Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how wordletz.com (“the Site”, “we”, “us”) collects and uses personal information when you visit the Site and play its games, and the choices and rights you have. We follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

1. Who we are

The Site is run by Qualitane, who is the “controller” of your personal information. Our postal address is: Hitches Lane,, Fleet, UK. You can contact us about anything in this policy at jebiz101@gmail.com.

2. The information we collect

Information stored only on your device

Our games save things like your best score, your progress in a puzzle, which puzzles you have already played and whether you have seen the “How to play” instructions. This information is kept in your own browser (using a feature called “local storage”). It is not sent to us, and you can delete it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.

Information sent when you use the Site

Like almost every website, our web server and hosting provider automatically receive technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the date and time. When you play, your browser asks our server for a puzzle and, at the end of a game, for its list of answers; these requests contain the puzzle number and the words or letters needed to check your game, but nothing that identifies you.

If you create an account

If you register, we store your username, email address, display name and a securely scrambled (“hashed”) version of your password. When you play leaderboard games while logged in, we store your scores and the date and time of each game, and a list of the puzzle words you have already been given so that new games do not repeat them. Your display name and best scores appear publicly on the leaderboards.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to tell us, and use it only to reply and deal with your request.

3. Google services we use

Google Analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics, provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the Site (for example which games are popular and how long visits last), so we can improve it. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, your approximate location (based on your IP address), your device and browser, and how you arrived at the Site. We do not use Google Analytics to identify you personally. You can prevent Google Analytics from using your information by declining analytics cookies, or by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Google AdSense (advertising)

The Site is free to play and is supported by advertising provided by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.

If you are in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, we will ask for your consent before personalised advertising cookies are used. If you do not consent, Google may still show non-personalised ads, which use cookies only for limited purposes such as frequency capping, measurement and fraud prevention.

To learn more, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and how Google uses advertising cookies.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. Cookies that are not strictly necessary are only used with your consent.

5. Why we use your information (our legal bases)

  • Legitimate interests — to run the Site and its games securely and reliably, keep server logs, prevent abuse and cheating, and reply to messages.
  • Consent — for analytics and personalised advertising cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time: Change your cookie settings.
  • Contract — to provide your account, save your scores and show them on the leaderboards, as described in our Terms of Use.
  • Legal obligation — where we must keep or share information to comply with the law.

6. Who we share information with

  • Our website hosting provider, which stores the Site and its server logs on our behalf.
  • Google, for the analytics and advertising services described above. Google acts as an independent controller for some advertising purposes; see Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Authorities or other parties where required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of the Site, its users or others.

We do not sell your personal information.

7. International transfers

Google may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK–US data bridge or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

8. How long we keep information

  • Game progress stored in your browser stays there until you clear it.
  • Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, normally no longer than 12 months.
  • Account details and leaderboard scores are kept while your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your details and scores, except where we must keep something by law. Leaderboards may also be reset from time to time.
  • Google Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months and then deleted automatically.
  • Emails are kept for as long as needed to deal with your request, and then deleted.

9. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; have it corrected; have it deleted; restrict or object to how we use it; receive it in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent. To use any of these rights, email jebiz101@gmail.com. We will reply within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113.

10. Children

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and children under 13 must not create an account. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, please contact us at jebiz101@gmail.com and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No website can be completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password for your account.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make significant changes, we will make this clear on the Site.
